Condor Challenge is Bakersfield’s only ropes challenge course and outdoor climbing tower. Located on the grounds of California Living Museum, Condor Challenge adds another exciting attraction to the zoo. The program consists of both low and high ropes elements, as well as a 32-foot climbing wall with a minimum of four distinct routes.
Condor Challenge is suited for both small and large groups who wish to engage in a fun-filled day of team-building designed to foster trust, self-confidence, determination, cooperation, communication and agility.
Condor Challenge is geared toward groups such as:
- Youth & church groups
- Businesses / corporations
- Non-profit organizations
- High school / college clubs
- Youth & adult sports teams
- Service organizations
- Birthday parties
Condor Challenge subscribes to the philosophy of Challenge by Choice. That is, participants are encouraged to partake in all activities, but no one is forced. Individuals choose the level and extent of their participation. Healthy risk taking is an integral part of the learning process. Excursions are adapted to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
Participants must be able to fit safely into Condor Challenge’s harness equipment. Age and size restrictions may apply.
High Course Elements
The high ropes course involves a series of elements that challenge participants to climb to heights of more than 35 ft. and maneuver across horizontal obstacle like a single cable, nets, poles and an incomplete bridge. High ropes elements are supervised by trained facilitators to ensure the safety of participants.
Low Course Elements
Low elements consist of six separate ground-level components that involve balance and agility in which the entire team’s participation is needed to achieve a set goal. Only through unified teamwork can groups succeed and move onto the next element.
Condor Challenge features two, 32-foot climbing faces with four distinct climbing routes. The climbing facility is used as part of high/low ropes packages, but is available for individual use as well.
3-hour group session*
$35/person (includes zoo admission)

Because no two groups are alike, our trained facilitators will tailor your group’s experience based on your specified desired outcomes, age and ability level. Each package has a mix of high and low elements designed to foster teamwork, self-confidence, determination, cooperation, communication and agility.
Condor Challenge is open daily with a reservation. Groups can choose from our morning session (9 a.m. to noon) or afternoon session (12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
