Phase 1
Creating a Better Arrival Experience
The Entry Plaza is designed to improve how guests arrive at and move through CALM Zoo while creating a safer, more welcoming, and more functional entrance experience.
Reorganized parking, improved circulation, new visitor amenities, education spaces, and dedicated access for school groups and wildlife rehabilitation will help the front of the Zoo better serve guests, staff, students, and animals.
Entry Plaza Overview
Improving Access, Safety, and Guest Experience
By reorganizing the parking area and expanding the plaza, the Entry Plaza will improve circulation, safety, visitor convenience, and the overall experience of arriving at CALM Zoo.
Updated Entrance
The arrival experience will become more welcoming with improved landscaping, artwork, signage, and a clearer path to the main entrance.
School Bus Entrance
A dedicated bus route and direct Zoo entry will make arrival easier and safer for school groups, while an improved vehicle loop will support guest drop-off.
New Entry Village
The Entry Village will bring together ticketing, guest services, retail, food, education, rehabilitation access, and administrative functions near the front of the Zoo.
Cafe
A new cafe outside the Zoo gates will provide guests and passing visitors with a convenient place to gather, eat, and enjoy the Entry Plaza.
Gift Shop
The new CALM Zoo gift shop will provide a refreshed retail space for souvenirs, keepsakes, and items that help support CALM Zoo’s mission.
Education Hub
The existing Entry Building will be transformed into an Education Hub with flexible classrooms, storage, and space supporting CALM’s educational programming.
Rehab Entry
A dedicated rehabilitation entrance will allow animals arriving for care to enter the facility without passing through the main visitor gates.
