Clickety-clack, Clickety-clack
By Darren Redstone
Clickety-clack, clickety-clack
Train’s a comin’ down the track!
Four long whistles, then the bell,
“Welcome back,” we all yell!
Now it’s time for another run,
Pick your seats, everyone!
Fun’s ahead, that we know,
All aboard, toot-toot, and away we go!
Chug, chug, chug, we’re moving slow,
Round the bend, and faster we’ll go!
Gaze at the dinosaurs, they’re not so tough,
Look! There’s a town ahead called Buzzard’s Bluff!
A place out of the Wild West,
Everyone’s a welcome guest!
What? No time to spare?
At least wave to the ghost in the rocking chair!
Yonder there’s a one room schoolhouse,
No one’s present, not even a field mouse.
Clickety-clack, stay alert,
Or you might just miss the Painted Desert!
Cacti and rocks of every color,
My, oh my, it’s like no other!
Now it’s time to take a turn,
But first, enjoy a view of the River Kern!
Chug, chug, chug, no time for sleep,
Can you spot some bighorn sheep?
What’s that sign along the track?
Beware of snakes—rattlers in fact!
Our trip’s not done, What more can there be?
Just look around, and you will see!
Some balanced rocks, painted stones,
a cactus patch and cute bird homes!
The train chugs by a water mill,
It has a turning water wheel!
More dinosaurs to see, and then,
It’s back to the station once again.
Clickety-clack, hear the bell,
Our train ride’s done,
But boy, oh boy!
Did we have fun!
